Forchtenstein Castle, located about 20 kilometers from Eisenstadt, served as the treasury of the Esterhazy princes. Built in the late Middle Ages, Forchtenstein Castle is the emblem of the province of Burgenland and is the only fortress in the region that was never captured during the Turkish Wars. The castle, still owned by the Esterhazy family, houses one of the largest private weapon collections in Europe and the only Baroque art collection Europe to remain in its original location.

Tour offered on August 11, bus departs hotels at 10:00 am and returns by 2:00 pm. There is no charge for the tour but reservations are required since bus capacity is limited. Reservations and payment due by July 1.




Experience a memorable evening of opera in St. Margarethe's Roman quarry, one of Europe's loveliest open-air stages. The 2017 Opera in the Quarry season will feature one of Giuseppe Verdi's most popular operas, "Rigoletto", sung in Italian. You'll also be treated to a special backstage tour before the performance begins.

Enjoy a wonderful day exploring the Wachau Valley beginning with a tour of Melk Abbey with its staggeringly massive Benedictine monastery founded in 1089. After 1,000 years, it's still functioning as an abbey and school today. Melk boasts the largest ecclesiastical library in the world with over 80,000 priceless volumes and a wonderfully frescoed ceiling. Today it is surrounded by landscaped gardens with spectacular views over the Wachau Valley and the Danube. Following lunch at a popular restaurant on the grounds of Melk Abbey, you will enjoy a river cruise on the Danube River with a 2-hour stop in the medieval town of Dürnstein.

Enjoy a spectacular day of sightseeing in Vienna beginning with a guided tour of Schoenbrunn Palace, the former summer residence of the imperial family. We will then drive into Vienna's city center for guided tour of the Musikverein, home to the Vienna Philharmonic. You will then enjoy a 3-course lunch in a popular restaurant in the city center before continuing with a city sightseeing tour of some of Vienna's most famous city sights. You will then have 2 hours of free time for sightseeing on your own, shopping, visiting museums, or finding your own way to enjoy the city.

Explore the vibrant city of Budapest, Hungary, including Castle Hill which is home to Buda's "old town", Fishermen's Bastion, the Chain Bridge which was the first permanent like between Buda and Pest, the world's third largest Parliament building, Heroes Square, and more. The area was originally three cities separated by the Danube River -- Pest to the west, Buda to the east, and Óbuda to the north. In 1873, these three cities united to create the Hungarian capital of Budapest.
